INFENG is short for Information Engineering, a discipline that deals with the generation, distribution, analysis and use of information, data and knowledge in digital systems.
We specialise in managing information within engineering domains, including design, construction, and operations. Established to provide independent services across the built environment lifecycle, we offer expertise in technology and information management from specification and procurement through to delivery, quality assurance, storage, and strategic use.
Our clients include organisations that design, construct, or operate infrastructure assets—from airports and data centres to power stations, offices, roads, and everything in between. We partner with our clients to organise their information effectively, enabling them to access critical data and make data-driven decisions with confidence.
Leadership
John Hall
Managing Director
John has over 15 years of experience advancing engineering through digital best practice. With a passion for communication, technology and developing solutions for information management challenges, he has worked with large estate owners and on complex construction projects to deliver effective information management using the most suitable technology solutions.
His career spans roles from technical authoring to strategic leadership positions with Tier 1 contractors and technology providers. John has a deep understanding of the built environment, from MEP coordination to enterprise-level data strategy, and combines technical expertise with practical implementation skills.
He volunteers for nima to promote information management best practices across the industry and has contributed to key industry guidance including the Information Management Platform (IMP) developed with the Government & Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG).

Building Technical Foundations
2008Started career as a technical services draughtsman, specialising in mechanical and electrical services for large commercial construction projects across London and the UK. This hands-on foundation established deep understanding of the technical challenges facing the construction industry.
MEP Coordination Excellence
2008-2013Led CAD management and Building Information Modelling services for a multi-disciplinary consultancy, specialising in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks coordination. Developed expertise in model authoring and services coordination that would become essential to future digital transformation work.
Tier 1 Digital Leadership
2014-2017Appointed Senior BIM Manager at ISG, responsible for implementing and delivering digital objectives on large private and public sector projects. Led teams in digital transformation initiatives, including development of digital signature procedures that significantly reduced costs in group-wide contractual processes.
Technology Solutions Architecture
2018-2021Served as Solution Architect for a leading common data environment software provider, delivering consultancy services and technology implementations for major UK Government and private sector clients. Developed expertise in large-scale data migrations and digital strategy development.
INFENG Established
2021Founded INFENG to provide independent information management consultancy services to the construction and building operations sectors. Working with medium-sized contractors through to leading technology owner-operators, delivering on-site and remote digital services for the built environment.
Major Alliance Programme Leadership
2021-2024Led digital strategy as Senior Digital Construction Manager on a £1BN+ public sector alliance contract, coordinating digital delivery across multiple Tier 1 contractors. Developed ISO 19650 compliance frameworks and implemented security auditing processes for complex multi-party projects.
Industry Standards Development
2021Active contributor to the Government & Industry Interoperability Group (GIIG), researching and developing the Information Management Platform (IMP) guidance and IMPACT tool. These resources help industry professionals design effective system architectures for information management.

2023In partnership with ybim, launched TheChecker.io, a data quality platform focused on tabular data for the construction industry.
Nima Membership Platform
2023Developed and launched the membership platform for nima at members.wearenima.im. This membership and professional badging application supports the leading voice in construction information management.
